Yes, smiles really are contagious! Your smile truly does affect those around you. The area of your brain that controls your smiling mechanism and the times that you mimic someone else’s smile is in the cingulate cortex, which is a response area that is automatic. Swedish researchers showed subjects pictures of different emotions, including anger, fear, joy and surprise. When a subject was shown a picture of a smiling person, the researchers told them to frown. What the researchers found was that the subjects naturally did the opposite. It actually took a lot of effort for the subjects to put a frown on their face. When you smile at someone, the odds are good that they can’t help but return that smile to you. If they don’t, it’s only because they are trying really hard to be a Grumpy Gus!
Who Is Missing Your Smile?
We all want to make the people around us happy. That’s just a natural part of being a social, well-adjusted individual. We would all rather be around someone who’s flashing smiles as opposed to frowns. But passing along the smiles may be harder if you’re not happy with your own smile. While a smile is a smile is a smile, you may be less apt to flash your less-than-perfect whites to a friend or stranger who sorely needs it.
How Can The World Benefit From Your Smile?
Invisalign aligners can straighten your teeth without the use of braces. You can remove these invisible aligners, which means that no one has to know that you’re straightening your teeth. A benefit of Invisalign is that you can eat and drink as you normally do. You can also brush and floss as you would in your normal routine. Because these aligners are not braces, there are no metals, wires or brackets that can cause abrasions.
If you’re interesting in having the world benefit from your smile, contact Beach Braces to see if Invisalign is the right solution for your smile. You and your orthodontist can create a treatment plan that will give you your perfect smile.

Preheat the oven to 170ºC/gas 3, and grease and line two baking sheets.
In a bowl, whisk the egg whites until firm. Gently fold in the sugar, almonds and amaretto to make a smooth paste.
Using a teaspoon or a piping bag, place dollops of the mixture on the trays, 2cm apart.
Bake in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly golden. Transfer to a wire rack to cool, before dusting with icing sugar.

When to see an orthodontist
Orthodontists sometimes see conditions in teeth that may give clues about the person’s health that other medical professionals might have missed. One example is celiac disease. This allergy to gluten can result in the decay of tooth enamel. It can also lead to canker sores in the mouth. However, there are more and more gluten-free ingredients and recipes available all the time, and as a result, celiac sufferers have more access than ever before to a gluten-free diet.
One of the things gluten-free eaters miss the most is sweets like cookies and cake because they are often made with flour. That is why a recipe for gluten-free Amaretti biscuits is such a treat for people with celiac.
Damage to teeth from celiac cannot be reversed, but it can be stopped, and there are a number of procedures that can improve the look of teeth if necessary. Although invisalign braces are not a treatment that an orthodontist might do to repair teeth damaged from celiac disease, anyone with a gluten allergy who cares enough about the condition and appearance of their teeth to wear braces will not want to damage them further. Recipes like gluten-free Amaretti biscuits can help prevent that damage.
These are a great treat to have with tea or coffee, and one of the best things about them is that they are naturally gluten-free. Too often, recipes that are normally made with wheat or other grains that are adapted to be gluten-free are disappointing by comparison. This is not the case with these delicious gluten-free Amaretti biscuits.
Whether or not you are dedicated to living gluten-free, you might be concerned about your own smile or those of your family members. If your own teeth or your children’s teeth look overcrowded or crooked, give us a call today to speak to an orthodontist about invisalign braces.

Beach Braces, 1730 Manhattan Beach Blvd. Suite B, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
¾ cup low-moisture part-skim shredded mozzarella cheese (3 oz)
¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Toppings
2 plum (Roma) tomatoes, thinly sliced (at least 18 slices)
6 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into 6 slices
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
5 large fresh basil leaves, shredded
Directions
Heat oven to 425°F. Line cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper; spray paper with cooking spray. Set aside.
Place half of the cauliflower in food processor. Cover; process until very finely ground. Repeat with other half of cauliflower. Transfer to microwavable bowl. There should be about 3 cups of packed cauliflower.
Microwave cauliflower uncovered on High 5 minutes. Meanwhile, place colander over a large bowl. Line colander with kitchen towel. Transfer microwaved cauliflower to towel; set aside to cool about 10 minutes or until cool enough to handle. Squeeze water from cauliflower by wrapping the towel around it and twisting. Remove as much liquid as possible. Set aside to cool 5 minutes.
In medium bowl, beat egg, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and 3/4 cup mozzarella cheese with fork. Add cauliflower, and combine using hands, kneading mixture together. Discard any large bits of cauliflower.
Sprinkle shredded Parmesan in 6 small mounds on cookie sheet. Divide dough into 6 equal balls; shape into hockey puck shapes. Place 1 piece of dough on top of each mound of Parmesan. Gently press out dough into discs, about 1/4 inch thick. Press together any ragged edges to prevent burning.
Bake crust without toppings 20 to 25 minutes or until easy to turn; remove from oven, and use pancake turner to gently peel and release pizzas from parchment. Turn over pizzas, and top with 3 tomato slices per pizza, 1 slice fresh mozzarella, salt and pepper. Bake 8 minutes. Top with shredded basil.

Take Care of Your Teeth, Too
Being healthy doesn’t have to be boring; it can be fun. Here’s a tasty recipe for mini pizzas that will seem like a party and keep you hearty. These mini pizzas are completely gluten free–how do they do it? The crust is made from cauliflower and cheese, no gluten products at all. Also included in the crust are egg, salt, and black pepper. The toppings are tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, salt, black pepper, and fresh basil leaves. The ingredients are simple, healthy, and non-processed.
Another great way to be healthy is to care for your teeth. Be sure to visit the orthodontist to see if you need braces. Crowded teeth can lead to uneven wear, tooth decay, chipping, gum disease, and other problems. Braces can correct this and can even be invisible with invisalign.

Beach Braces, 1730 Manhattan Beach Blvd. Suite B, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266
• 12 large dry sea scallops, (about 1 pound; see Note)
• 1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper
• 1 1/4 ounces very thinly sliced prosciutto, (about 3 slices), cut into 12 long strips
• 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
• 1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• Freshly ground pepper, to taste
• 12 ounces baby spinach
PREPARATION
1. Place rack in upper third of oven; preheat broiler. Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
2. Pat scallops dry and sprinkle both sides with lemon pepper. Wrap 1 piece of prosciutto around each scallop. Thread 3 scallops crosswise onto each skewer (securing the prosciutto to the scallop) and place on the prepared baking sheet. Broil until just cooked through, about 6 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, whisk oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, salt and pepper in a medium bowl. Reserve 1 tablespoon vinaigrette in a small bowl.
4. Place spinach in a colander and rinse under cold water. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. When hot, add handfuls of spinach (with water still clinging to it) to the pan and cook, stirring, until just wilted, 2 to 3 minutes. Drain the spinach and add to the medium bowl; toss to coat with the vinaigrette. Divide the spinach among 4 plates and top each portion with 3 scallops. Drizzle the scallops with the reserved vinaigrette.

Maintain Your Energy Levels
Consuming protein is important while undergoing orthodontic treatment to maintain your energy while keeping bones and teeth strong. Prosciutto-wrapped scallops with spinach are a tasty appetizer or main dish recipe that contains a lot of protein from the scallops along with the thin pieces of ham.
Highly Nutritious Recipe
The soft pieces of scallops and prosciutto are gluten free and easy for you to chew while wearing ceramic or metal braces, and this recipe’s ingredients will not damage any wires or brackets inside your mouth. In addition to protein from the thin prosciutto and the delicious seafood scallops, this meal offers vitamins A and C along with iron, magnesium and calcium.

Gluten-Free Prosciutto-Wrapped Scallops with Spinach
Dr. Patricia Panucci announces that her Manhattan Beach, California-based BEACH BRACES opens the doors to its new and expanded offices Tuesday, May 3 at 220 N. Aviation Blvd. Suite A. (Click here for directions)
The new home for the 11-year-old orthodontic practice is three times the size of the former location on Manhattan Beach Boulevard and offers patients additional state-of-the-art features such as an iCAT 3D scanner that allows the most thorough evaluation of individual patient needs (the only unit of its kind currently in a South Bay orthodontic office), the option of a semi-private procedure room, in addition to five chairs arranged in a large airy patient bay with ceiling “sky” lights, a full on-site technician lab for the preparation of appliances, iPad work stations and massage chairs for waiting patients and parents. Plus, there’s a “multi-media room” for patient before and after photos, social media, as well as green screen technology that allows patients and parents to explore the planet (and elsewhere), with fun and creative photography.
“The Beach Braces team has always prided ourselves on providing the latest in orthodontic technology and the best patient care. With our new location, we’ve added the most comfortable and attractive premises possible,” beams Dr. Panucci. “Our goal is to make “moving teeth” a fun experience.”
Missing teeth are a more common concern that most patients think. Many people who have missing teeth are concerned about how it will affect the way they present themselves to the public. However, there are also health reasons for replacing missing teeth. When you have gaps in your teeth, it can lead to problems with your gums and it can also be rather inconvenient when eating some types of foods. Not all missing teeth need to be replaced, and it really depends a lot on the individual circumstances surrounding the missing teeth.
Whether you get orthodontic appliances applied as an adult or child, it’s important to people to maintain a healthy and effective smile. Especially in America, straight teeth indicate a certain status. Crooked and missing teeth erroneously indicate that the individual doesn’t take good care of their health.
There are also good health reasons for wanting a straighter smile. It can help prevent disease, promotes better gum health and makes it easier to care for teeth. Simply put, straight teeth are more functional than crooked teeth. So, what do you do when you’ve had braces and there are gaps between the teeth after treatment?
There are a few possible remedies. In some cases, a prosthetic implant may be warranted. With younger children and some adults, it may be necessary to leave the space to allow the teeth to adjust and move. Each situation has to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Evaluating Spaces Between the Teeth
It’s important to realize that spaces between the teeth don’t always need to be filled. It’s not completely uncommon for an adult to have a few teeth that are missing, and only a few of them need to be replaced. In some situations, filling the space between the teeth can be risky to the patient’s overall long-term health.
An adult that has small gaps between the teeth may not need to have the spaces filled if they pose no functional issue. There are remedies that can be used to correct the spacing, but they are not considered medically necessary procedures. If the space between the teeth is more than a few millimeters, then there can be a negative effect on the long-term health of the patient.
When there are large spaces between teeth, the gums are not as well protected. This leaves the gums vulnerable to damage. Over time, damaged gums may begin to recede. One specific issue is when the bone beneath the gum begins to get damaged because there isn’t anything there to anchor the bone. As the bone becomes weaker, the teeth may begin to wobble around. Tooth decay and loss may ensue.
Typically the best case scenario with large spaces, is that the teeth begin to shift. If you’ve had braces, this can negate the positive effects of the treatment.
Fixing the Spaces After Orthodontic Treatment
If you’ve recently had treatment with Invisalign or other orthodontic appliances, you’ll want to keep your teeth in good condition. A dental implant is often the best remedy to replace a missing tooth. This requires the tooth to be anchored directly to the jaw bone. The tooth then functions much like a normal tooth.
Other options that are not as ideal include a bridge or partial denture. These options tend to stand out, and they are more noticeable. They also may allow the possibility of additional bone atrophy. In some cases, this may be your only option. However, you should definitely visit an orthodontist to find out what options are available to you. If the spaces are extremely small, you may even be able to use a composite resin filling to improve the aesthetics of the teeth.
If you need a remedy to replace a missing tooth and you haven’t yet straightened your teeth, all hope is not lost. One nice thing about Invisalign treatment is that even if you have a bridge or implant, you can still get treatment. The implant or bridge won’t be able to move, but all of the teeth around it can move. This is why it’s so important to consult with a competent orthodontist before you get any treatments to make sure you get the best possible treatment.
Your orthodontist may recommend getting Invisalign or other orthodontic appliances applied first, and then have a procedure to replace any missing teeth. This way, you can ensure that you get the best possible smile. This is important since once you get an implant for a missing tooth, that tooth can’t be moved. If the placement of a dental implant isn’t ideal, it can reduce your options for treatment.
Missing Teeth in Children
Children who have missing teeth after treatment is a pretty common occurrence, especially if the appliances were applied before all of their adult teeth have come in. There is a device that is very similar to a partial denture that can be used. The appliance is wired to the teeth. When the adult teeth begin to come in, the appliance can be removed. For children who have adult teeth that are missing, the procedures prescribed for adults are actually ideal. It really depends on the age of the children and the current condition of their teeth.

Choose Healthy Salads for Meals
If you must avoid foods with gluten, then learn to make delicious salads that are made with chicken and fruit. Combining these two ingredients might seem unusual at first, but this type of recipe is a powerhouse of nutrition. More importantly, if you wear braces, then the small pieces of fruit and chopped chicken are easy to chew, and this is also a gluten-free recipe. An orthodontist knows that their patients’ have sensitive gums when they begin to wear Invisalign aligners or other orthodontia, and soft foods are recommended to avoid discomfort.
Consume Protein and Vitamins
It is also vitally important to consume protein to remain energetic along with getting enough minerals and vitamins to keep your bones and teeth strong. A gluten-free chicken and fruit salad is simple to pack for lunches at school, and your child will enjoy this recipe. When you visit an orthodontist for an examination, they will use a state-of-the-art computer software system to collect images of your facial structure. With this software, an orthodontic specialist can show you what will happen to your teeth if you choose to wear braces or Invisalign aligners.

As we get older, our teeth can shift around, and suddenly that killer smile you’ve always had is not so perfect now. If your teeth are slightly misaligned, you could improve them with a modern quick fix. That’s the beauty of wearing clear, plastic braces; you don’t need surgery, they straighten teeth fast and allow you to eat the gooey-ist, nuttiest piece of candy.
The old-fashioned pair still exist with metal wires and brackets unattractively fastened to your teeth. They are not always comfortable and come with several rules and restrictions. A highly skilled orthodontist can determine if you are a candidate for clear, plastic aligners. These look attractive, because they are barely noticeable and don’t call unnecessary attention to you. They straighten teeth faster than the metal kind and let you resume normal living without having to abstain from this or that. Ladies, you can also freely wear lipstick and gloss with clear braces.
Worthy Beauty Investment
You deserve to be good to yourself and stay healthy, and investing in the Invisalign system is an intelligent choice for your future. Straight teeth and a radiant smile are the gifts that keep on giving, year after year. In addition, a new smile allows you to look more youthful. Christie Brinkley and Julia Roberts are two stars known for their effervescent smiles and perfect teeth. Christie is 62 and Julia is 48, which proves that a great, natural smile knows no age.

When someone tells you that you have a pretty smile, it definitely makes you feel good inside. We all want that perfect Hollywood dazzler with straight white teeth, but many of us don’t think it’s a reality but something beyond our reach. An orthodontist would tell you otherwise, because everyone, especially those who have reached adulthood, can always improve a smile and perhaps change their life forever.
No one likes calling attention to a mouth full of metal wires and brackets, and today, you don’t have to choose the old-fashioned method. The right orthodontist will show you how Invisalign has radically altered the way we straighten teeth. These clear braces are barely noticeable; maybe that’s why famous faces like Katy Perry and Gisele Bundchen have worn them on the red carpet. These clear plastic aligners are not a distraction, especially for those 20 and older, who don’t want to put their smile on blast while quietly straightening their teeth.
The Invisalign Advantage
Clear braces are comfortable to wear and re-position the teeth faster than the metal kind. An experienced orthodontist is the only expert who can evaluate your smile to see if you can wear the new system. These professionals have been trained in every aspect of the teeth, bite, mouth and jaw. After a thorough examination, he or she can determine if you’re a candidate. The good news is that these clear aligners have been designed for adults. You have more freedom wearing them, because you remove them for eating, and when you brush and floss. Plus, they look amazing on, and you can still wear lipstick with ease.

Gluten Free Prosciutto-Wrapped Scallops with Spinach
Contents
INGREDIENTS

Replacing Missing Teeth If There Are Remaining Spaces After Treatment
Missing teeth are a more common concern that most patients think. Many people who have missing teeth are concerned about how it will affect the way they present themselves to the public. However, there are also health reasons for replacing missing teeth. When you have gaps in your teeth, it can lead to problems with your gums and it can also be rather inconvenient when eating some types of foods. Not all missing teeth need to be replaced, and it really depends a lot on the individual circumstances surrounding the missing teeth.
Contents
The Importance of Straight Teeth
If you have any questions about treatment, give our orthodontic practice, Beach Braces, a call to find out what treatment options are available for you and your family.

Invisalign to the Rescue

You haven’t lost your smile at all, it’s right under your nose. You just forgot it was there.
When someone tells you that you have a pretty smile, it definitely makes you feel good inside. We all want that perfect Hollywood dazzler with straight white teeth, but many of us don’t think it’s a reality but something beyond our reach. Modern Braces Almost Invisible
