Today we join Nicky S on day 3 of her Orthodontic Treatment with Beach Braces.

Dr Patti Panucci attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry for four years, where she graduated with a DMD degree (May 2000) among the Top 10 in her class. Following that, she headed west to Los Angeles to complete her three-year residency at one of the top-ranked orthodontic programs in the country – the University of Southern California.

Along with her certificate in orthodontics, Dr. Panucci earned a master’s degree in craniofacial biology. During those three years, she fell in love with Southern California beach life and decided that this was where her future lay.

Do Braces Hurt?

Sometime when you are new to braces they can cause a little discomfort in your mouth and cheeks. This is perfectly natural and nothing to worry about. You’ll soon get used to them but you can use a little wax to stop them causing you minor irritation. To alleviate the discomfort, Nicky used a little wax.

After squeezing out a small amount of wax from two tubes she mixes it together so the two compounds react and starts to set. She then stuck it on to the wire or bracket that was causing the slight discomfort and within a couple of minutes it sets leaving her mouth irritation free.

Oral Hygiene is very important to your overall health and especially for your gums, teeth and mouth while wearing braces.

Regular brushing and flossing can help keep your teeth and braces clean. Sometimes food particles can get stuck in the wires of braces and extra care is needed to clean them without causing any damage. An interdental toothbrush is ideal for cleaning your teeth between brushing to gently eliminate any small particles of food trapped between the teeth and braces.

Oral Hygiene Working Through the Night

Nicky also uses a mouthwash every day before sleeping. This mouthwash keeps working throughout the night and keeps her oral hygiene fresh. Nicky’s favorite flavor is… bubble gum! Yummy!!

Upper and Lower Braces Treatment

Nikky S has kindly agreed to document here orthodontic treatment experience she’s receiving from Dr. Panucci at Beach Braces. Nikky will me making a series of videos as she undergoes the different stages of here treatment. After an initial consultation, she started the procedure of full upper and lower braces with elastics to correct her bite. Her estimated treatment time is 18 months. No teeth were removed and the braces were placed using indirect bonding.
